Hello! I'm Maja [Ma-ya], the creative force behind Maiiou.

A lot of what I make starts with curiosity. I’m drawn to things I find interesting, whether that’s something in nature, a feeling, a creature, a place, an idea, or something I’ve imagined. Sometimes I try to capture something of what I sense or feel rather than simply what I see.

Other times, I play with materials, colors, and shapes without knowing where I’m going, to discover what they want to become.

And sometimes I just want to make something because it's fun.

I let my imagination and intuition guide me through all of it.

I work with various materials and techniques, including hand sewing and stitching, knitting, embroidery, crochet, needle felting, weaving, drawing, painting, sculpting, and fabric and paper manipulation—the list goes on. I develop my skills through countless hours of experimentation, transforming ideas into material form.

In my Shop, you’ll find a growing collection of creative work and tutorials for soft sculptures, dolls, toys, décor, and more. Everything I make might look different on the surface, but it all comes from the same imagination—different forms, same hands.

Flow is a space for reflection, imagination, creation, and experimentation. It’s a blend of creative explorations, tutorials and DIY projects, glimpses into my artistic process, and visual meditations. There’s no set schedule here—just whatever I feel like sharing when I have something to share.

What I create changes and evolves as I do. I draw inspiration from nature, the turning of the seasons, shamanic journeys, vision quests, dreams, folklore, fantasy, sci-fi, and video games. Still, inspiration knows no bounds and can come from anything and everything.

I live in Co. Kildare, Ireland, with my husband and a bunch of cats with big personalities. Outside the studio, I write short stories and tend to my garden, which I let grow as wild as possible, shifting naturally with the seasons. That same rhythm inspires how I approach creativity—each idea is like a seed that, when given space and freedom, can grow into something unexpected, untamed, and truly one of a kind.

Thank you for stopping by—may your creativity and imagination open a door to something magical today! 🖤
